Alibi- proof that you couldnt have been at the crime scene.


Burglary- a crime of breaking and entering a property.

Crime Scene- the place in which the crime took place.

DNA- chemical makeup to humans that are unique to humans.

Evidence- can be DNA, an object, CCTV etc which can help lead to solve the crime.

Forensics- the application of science to answer questions related tto a crime.

Informant- someone who gives secret information.

Interrogation- the formal questioning of someone during a police.

Investigation Lawyer- a member of the legal profression, eg Barrister and Solicitor (also known as a brief).

Manslaughter- is a legal term for the kiling of a human being, in a manner considered by law as less culpable than murder.

Murder- the unlawful killing of another human being.

Omniscient Narrative- the audience know more than the investigators.

Perperator- a person who commits a crime.

Restrictive Narrative- the audience knows as much as the investigators.

Robbery- a crime of taking or attempting to take something of value by force or threat of force.

Search Warrant- a court order to search a property.

Sentence- the punishment allotted to a person conmned in a criminal trial.

Statement- a formal account of events given by someone.

Witness- a person who gives evidence in court.

Symbiotic- A Relationship which relise on someone else for example student and a teacher or a criminal and a police, without eachother tthey have no purpose.

Stock Character- Common character types from the right side of the law.

Anti Hero-A police who has villian tentandces for example "Horation Caine" hits people to get infortmation.

Eponymous-A Crime Drama named after a main character for example the show Luther is named after the main character "John Luther".

Informant-A person who provides police with information, known as a snitch.

Professionals–Police, Investigators, Detectives, SWAT teams, Medics, Lawyers, Press, Judges.

Crimes – Murder (Homicide) Serial Murders, Theft, Kidnap, Abuse.

Crime Scenes – Police Tape, Coroners, Press, CSIs.
Evidence – DNA, witnesses, Fingerprints, Alibis, Personal Effects, CCTV / Images, Scars, footprints.

Formulaic Narrative – Equilibrium, Disruption, Resolution. (Twists as new evidence emerges).Montages (of murders / evidence gathering).

Drama (Action scenes / Suspense Scenes / character development).

Restrictive narrative (we know as much as the investigators).

Flashbacks (to the crimes / prior events).

Motives (Jealousy, revenge, money, accidental).
Crime Solving techniques – using deduction skills (mind) or technology.

Press Conferences (releasing details to the public).

Settings – mixture of rural / urban depending on the show, police stations, labs, morgues.

Tone – Glamorous v. gritty, humorous v. sombre.

Pace – Slow v Fast.

Terrestrial television is a mode of television broadcasting which does not involve satellite transmission or cables.

Cable television is a system of providing television programs to consumers via radio frequency(cable in the TV).

Satellite television is television programming delivered by the means of communications satellite and received by an outdoor antenna.(In bad weather satellite is'nt the best).
